Coffee Chat- Just catching up!

Well hellooooo!  Been a really hot minute since I’ve posted…. sadly this is my first post of 2020 because you know… LIFE! So grab a cup of coffee and get ready to read about all the things going on behind the scenes. (P.S. if you follow me on Instagram, you probably know most of this from my stories)

I like to start my year off cleaning and organizing all the things so that has seemed to take priority over that last month.  There’s just something about having my cabinets and closets organized, the refrigerator cleaned out (throwing away food or condiments that expired in 2014…yikes), an updated planner,  updated baby books, etc.

Among all of the organization has been yet another project in the works.  Our basement!  Back in December, we decided to rip out the carpet and replace it with laminate plank flooring.  It looks incredible and it’s very easy to clean.  That alone has made such a difference in the look and feel of the room.  But we didn’t stop there!  We also installed an electric fireplace and mantel on the feature wall which will soon be covered in the same airstone we have on the upstairs fireplace.  Along with the stone we will also be installing custom built bookcases on either side of the fireplace.  They are currently being built off-site and are schedule to be delivered/installed sometime this month! Yay!! Don’t worry. I will post the before and after process in a separate post!

BEFORE and AFTER

In our spare time (ha what spare time?) we are closing off the media storage area in the corner of said feature wall.  We made every attempt to think of ways to salvage the space and utilize it as storage but with the addition of the bookcases, we believe it would look odd and be inaccessible.  So with the help of YouTube, my husband, Aaron, and I have built a wall, hung drywall, and are in the process of finishing it before the delivery of the bookcases.  I’m very impressed with how well it has turned out for a couple of inexperienced, ignorant, and stubborn individuals.

Aside from the organizing, cleaning, and basement remodel… we also got a new puppy that I don’t believe I’ve shared on the blog yet! (Yes. WE ARE CRAZY! As if we didn’t already have enough on our plate!)  Meet Rylee!  She’s a 17 week old, 31 lb golden doodle!  She is the best dog with a laid back, calm temperament.  She is also very smart and knows how to sit, shake, speak, lay down, and roll over!  We all just love her to pieces!

Thanks for following along!
