Coffee Talk Ed. No. 7

Hello Friday!! Hello SUNSHINE!!!  The sun does exist and it is wonderful!  After a week of overcast sky and rain, this glorious sunshine is just what I needed to boost my mood!!  Friday + Coffee + Sunshine = Feel Good Friday!! Cheers!

It’s been a laid back, easy going week, which is much appreciated and welcome following a weekend of no sleep and heightened stress endured with my son’s health dilemma.  Last Thursday, my son broke out in a rash, which was believed to be a delayed (10 days later) reaction to the amoxicillin he was on for an ear infection.  It started off mild, with a few red spots here and there and then bam, Friday morning he woke up with immensely swollen, red whelps all over.  Poor baby was so uncomfortable, irritable, and itching non-stop.  As a parent, there is nothing more heartbreaking and painful to see than your suffering child, especially one who is not able to communicate verbally yet.  Thankfully, my dad, who’s and ER physician, perscribed Ranitidine (aka Zantac.  An H2 receptor blocker traditionally used to treat acid reflux).  He instructed us to give 2.5 ml of it twice a day and one 2 ml dose of children’s Zyrtec (an H1 receptor blocker).  Within a day, the rash looked lighter and he didn’t seem to itch as bad.  The downside….yes, there always seems to be a side effect….insomnia!!   Thankfully, the medicine did its job to control the itching, but unfortunately baby boy could not sleep!  I chalked it up to him just being uncomfortable because of the rash and itching, but after two consecutive nights of insomnia, I turned to my dad for more advice.  Turns out, while antihistimines generally cause drowsiness in most people, my son has an adverse side effect which makes him wired!  Lesson learned! No more amoxicillin and no antihistamines….ever again!  Thank goodness, he is feeling, looking, and sleeping a whole lot better now!

My husband and I recently started watching the American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson on Netflix.  I was only 6 years old when the actual crime occurred.  I don’t remember much other than the news broadcasting the infamous white bronco police chase.  Not knowing much of what actually happened, this series reenacts this murder trial from the perspective of the lawyers.  I am hooked.

I ordered a new swimming suit from Target. I love the fun and feminine scalloped edges!! Hoping it will arrive today as I can’t wait to try it on!  Fingers crossed, it fits and looks as great on me as it does on the model.  I love the fun and feminine scalloped edges!!

I purchased my first amazon audio book, Talking as Fast as I can by Lauren Grahm.  You may know her as the star of Gilmore Girls and/or Parenthood.  It is somewhat of an autobiography, narrated by Lauren, in which she shares stories about her life, love, and working in Hollywood.  I don’t usually have time to read books as much as I’d like to, but this audio book is nice because I can listen to these while I’m in the car or on a walk.  I think I will definitely purchase more in the future.

After sifting through my closet last week, I went shopping Sunday for a few new tops.  Target is killing it in the fashion department.  Ok, who am I kidding they’re killing it in every department.  If I had to shop at one store for the rest of my life, it would most defiantly be Target.

Lastly,  I tragicly ran out of coffee last weekend (insert shrilling high pitched scream) in the midst of the most sleep deprived weekend in the history of my life (insert crying).  Terrifying, I know! But, luckily I have a great friend who generously took time out of her busy morning to surprise me with a variety of k-cups to tidy me over until I made it to the store.  Among the variety was a Starbucks caramel flavored coffee.  Boom! New fav.  It is perfect for making a homemade latte.

Have a wonderful, exciting, and blessed weekend!
