Date Night

When you’re a parent, long, overdue date nights are that much sweeter!

We were supposed to go out to dinner for my birthday in January, but that didn’t happen due to my son’s cold.  We decided to put it off until he was better.  A few weeks went by, and we still hadn’t gone out for dinner.

Then, Valentine’s Day rolled around.  We, again, decide not to go out and fight the crowds, but to go the following night which too, never happened because by then, I was not feeling well.

Finally, last night, we had an impromptu dinner date to make up for my birthday and valentine’s day!  Thankfully, my mother and father-in-law are more than happy to watch the kiddo’s for us while we enjoyed and evening (aka a couple of hours) to ourselves.

I had been craving sushi so we decided to go to Osaka.  I had wanted to go downtown to Geisha or Sake’s, but I chose Osaka’s due to it closer proximity to Aaron’s parent’s house.  Osaka wasn’t busy, we walked right in and were seated at the hibachi grill.  We sat, and waited, and waited….and waited.  (Does anyone else ever feel pressed for time when you leave your kids with someone else?  I always feel like I’m rushing so I don’t make them mad that we’re gone too long.)  And after 14 minutes, there was still no sign of a waiter.  No one had asked us for our drink orders; no one had asked us if we wanted an appetizer.   So, we left.

Got in the car like, “Now what?”

We decided on Jina Yoo’s, another sushi restaurant also fairly close to my in law’s.  Got in, seated, and served in no time and the food was great.  We shared the crabby basket appetizer, the lobster bisque soup, a Sun West sushi roll, and a Drunken sushi roll.  Aaron had a “Lookout” beer brewed locally at Logboat and I had the house mango mojito.  Everything was perfect.  It was a successful, and yummy date night.   If you’re in Columbia and want some great sushi, you should give Jina’s a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
