Master Bedroom Refresh

My first big-girl purchase out of college was a new bedroom set that I thought was awesome at the time, but fast forward 10 years and you can see that (cheap) furniture and mattress didn’t hold up so well! (actually I’m shocked it lasted this long) And so, it’s time for something new and I finally convinced my husband that we needed something new! Finally!
I’m no pro, but I’ve been re-decorating and re-thinking spaces in my home on a regular basis since before I even became a homeowner.  I love all things home design and decorating and I knew that I wanted an entire new look and feel with soft neutrals, plush earth tones, and over-sized pillows and throws!  Something that would make a huge impact but not break the bank!
Our journey to find new bedroom furniture began Labor Day Weekend.  There were a lot of great sales so we took advantage of the opportunity and ended up buying this great bedroom set for an unbeatable price at Ashley Furniture Homestore.  We also ended up purchasing this mattress but after sleeping on it for 30 days we have decided to exchange it for this one!  Both are really great mattresses but I prefer softer over cooler!
Before I began, I created a mood board.  A way for me to put my thoughts to paper and map out my desired look as well as add or subtract items once I see it all put together.  I decorated this room with a mixture of items from marshalls, tjmaxx, amazon, target, hobby lobby, urban outfitters, and michaels!

FYI: Our entire house is painted in Indian River by Benjamin Moore!
It was time to say goodbye to the dark wood furniture and hello to fresh and stylish accents.  The soft, off-white and grey hues of this master suite now completely counter the room’s original dark furniture.  The pop of wood tones throughout is just enough to pull the room together, while the fabric bed frame and headboard add comfort.
Take a look around!

We both really like how the room turned out – it’s relaxing and serene and cozy.  Just what I had hoped for!

Eventually we plan to replace the carpet with hardwood and add an area rug!
