My not-so-secret “beauty secret”; I wash my face with Dove soap

About 3 years ago, I was getting a pedicure and I couldn’t help but notice how perfect and flawless the technician’s skin was.  His (yes, it was a gay guy) complexion and makeup application was better than any woman’s makeup I had ever had the pleasure of viewing so close up.  I just couldn’t help myself, I had to ask him what his secret was.  His response, “Dove soap!”  I was shocked.  I had expected him to mutter off some super pricy, high-end, hard to pronounce brand I’d probably never heard.  He must have read my mind because he then went on to say he had bad acne in high school and his dermatologist, at the time, recommended using the original Dove Beauty Bar Soap and he’s been using it ever since.

So, being curious, I decided to give it a go.  I went and bought a bar that same day.  Heck, what did I have to lose? A $3 bar of soap that lasts for-ev-er vs. a $30 + brand that only lasts 1 month… seems like a no brainer!

As skeptical as I was to use a bar of soap to wash my face, it turns out my oily, acne prone skin loves the Dove soap and my wallet loves it too!  The Dove Beauty Bar has a fresh, clean scent and I especially love the light, fluffy lather that rinses away beautifully, leaving my skin clean and not dry or tight at all.  I use it twice a day, morning and night and my skin feels soft and looks lovely.  Since using the dove soap routinely, I have noticed a visible shift in my skin and received numerous compliments and questions regarding my skin care regimen, which I eagerly respond to with dignity.

I like to wipe my makeup off with a cleansing towelette prior to washing (at night), just to ensure I get all the dirt and makeup off and I finish with a lightweight moisturizing serum.

My Daily Face Cleansing Routine:

– Morning –

  1. Dove Soap and Warm Water
  2. Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum

– Night –

  1.  Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towlettes
  2. Dove Soap and Warm Water
  3. Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum

Do the dove soap get all your eye makeup off as well, or do you need to use a separate remover for that?

No. I generally use an eye makeup remover or the cleansing cloths first!
